Senior Risk Officer (Project Finance) (m/f)

In order to strengthen our international and dynamic Risk Management team in the Frankfurt head office, we are looking for senior risk professionals to be responsible for our investment portfolio of renewable energy projects in emerging markets (CIS region, South-East Europe and MENA)

Key responsibilities:

  • Review and analyse proposed new investment projects, identify key project and counterparty risks and propose optimal risk mitigation strategy and transaction structure (primarily senior debt, including participations in syndicated transactions, but also mezzanine/ equity)
  • Cooperate with investment team in preliminary screening and due diligence of the projects, design /review of financial models, drafting of credit proposals and provide  support in the structuring and  execution process
  • Monitor assigned project portfolio, considering both technical and financial aspects of project implementation, operating environment and industry trends to identify possible risk factors negatively impacting new investments and the repayment of current investments;  identify and lead possible restructurings
  • Prepare and present internal risk rating reports, information memoranda and management presentations
  • Contribute to the development of company risk management policies, procedures and methodologies
  • Oversight and coaching of junior members of Risk team

What we expect:

  • Relevant professional experience (>5 years) in credit risk management, ideally in a bank or international/bilateral financial institution focusing on emerging markets
  • Industry specialization/demonstrated skills in analyzing and restructuring project finance senior debt transactions and/or complex corporate debt transactions
  • Excellent working knowledge of financial modelling, financial analysis,  accounting standards and credit rating methodologies
  • Familiarity with the key technical and financial aspects of financing small to medium scale renewable energy projects (hydro, wind or solar) is an advantage
  • Excellent written and spoken  English, fluency in French is an advantage
  • Ability to articulate and advocate concise, well-structured arguments 
  • Strong team-motivation,  open and engaging communication style and inter-personal skills
  • Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
