Economist (m/f/d)

We are searching for an economist (m/f/d) to further strengthen our FX and Treasury unit with focus on analyzing the currency risk associated to emerging markets.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assess the foreign currency (FX) risk associated to debt instruments denominated in emerging market currencies (mainly of countries in Eastern Europe, and in the Middle-East and North Africa)
  • Monitor developments and trends in emerging market currencies with focus on our portfolio currencies, based on aspects like, macroeconomic developments, balance of payments, market benchmarks, and the central bank policy
  • Present own analysis to internal and external governance bodies (management, investment committees, supervisory boards, etc.)
  • Contribute to structuring local currency transactions, and monitor the performance of our foreign currency portfolio
  • Work together with our Strategy & Planning Team in developing new strategies and solutions for enhancing our funds’ capacities to provide debt denominated in local currency, while managing the corresponding risk
  • Be part of our Treasury Team, including onboarding new hedging counterparties, trading derivative instruments, and administrating our derivatives portfolio

What we expect:

  • University degree in economics, finance, statistics, or a related field
  • Knowledge of macroeconomics and currency markets with focus on emerging markets
  • Sufficient, relevant work experience in finance, macroeconomic research, development economics, or risk management
  • Experience in bank treasury operations is also an advantage
  • Commitment to impact investing and responsible finance
  • International mindset and excellent language skills in English
  • Analytical thinker, capable of communicating precisely
  • Initiative, proactive and result-oriented approach to work
  • Strong team player able to handle multiple priorities
