Emerging Market Private Equity Analyst (m/f/d)

Key responsibilities:

  • Assessment of equity investment opportunities, including market and regulatory environment analysis, analysis of financial statements of potential partner financial institutions, regular periodic updates, and management presentations
  • Support senior colleagues in all aspects of the private equity investment process from initial eligibility screening, preliminary assessment of an opportunity, on-site due-diligence to investment proposal drafting and deal structuring
  • Financial modelling and valuation of investment opportunities
  • Support and contribute to the development of the equity portfolio and developing of a strong pipeline of investment opportunities in local markets across the MENA region and beyond 
  • Understanding of MENA/SSA market environment, financial sector and regulatory frameworks in the region
  • Continuous monitoring of the existing portfolio of partner institutions, focusing on analysis of financial statements and business plans, financial sector trends, and operating environment to identify important market trends
  • Play an active and supporting role in tailoring and coordinating technical assistance projects

What we expect:

  • University degree in economics, finance or business administration
  • Some professional experience, i.e. internships or relevant professional experience, preferably in Private Equity, Investment Banking, with Emerging Market or development finance background
  • Strong financial modelling experience, and solid understanding of valuation methodologies, and financial statements – prior experience in assessing financial institutions would be an advantage
  • Additional experience in assessing microfinance institutions, leasing and factoring companies, fintech ventures, or in the agricultural or low-income housing financing sectors would be an asset
  • Excellent written and spoken English, proficiency in French and/or Arabic is an advantage
  • High client relationship management skills, strong team-orientation, coupled with an open and engaging communication style and inter-personal skills
