Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) – Impact and Investment Specialist FLR (m/f/d)

About the special project: Upscaling of private Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) investments in Latin America is an initiative to increase private sector and development capital flows into environmentally sustainable and financially viable business models that promote an FLR approach. There are multiple pillars to the project focused on addressing various financing obstacles. Finance in Motion will be involved in two of these pillars: i) building a compelling case regarding the impact of FLR approaches on common environmental and social goals such as climate friendly agriculture in order to attract additional impact-oriented capital; and ii) building a pipeline of FLR projects highlighting the business case for such an approach. Initially, the project is designed for a three-year period, but may be extended thereafter.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and closely supervise partnership with Latin American financial institution (likely in El Salvador) to implement an FLR-relevant impact monitoring system. This includes acting as the FLR specialist to coordinate with IT expert(s) in the design of data collection/analysis as well as training select bank employees and clients to participate in monitoring project
  • Coordinate workshops and participate at relevant conferences and technical forums to share insights on the development of FLR impact monitoring in the financial sector
  • Identify and analyze pipeline of investment ready FLR projects in Latin America (focal countries Paraguay, El Salvador and Peru), including leading desk and on-site due diligences of potential projects 
  • Cultivate a FLR focused investor network, including financial institutions and investment funds

What we expect:

  • Experience with design and/or implementation of forest landscape restoration projects, including also ideally experience in financial analysis and investment structuring
  • Excellent knowledge of best practice impact measurement approaches and tools
  • Substantial relevant professional experience and networks in Latin America
  • Experience with the private financial sector and / or impact lending sector is desirable
  • Excellent command of English and Spanish (written and oral)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to multicultural environments
  • Willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis
  • Demonstrable commitment to Finance in Motion´s vision/mission
