Manager – Head of Risk Controlling (m/f/d)

In order to strengthen the leadership of the Risk Controlling team placed in our head office in Frankfurt, we are looking for a risk professional to take over the lead of the risk controlling function:

Key responsibilities:
  • Assume ownership over identification, measurement, monitoring and control of risks, particularly credit, market and liquidity risks, in line with applicable regulatory requirements to an Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM) in Germany
  • Maintain and further develop risk management processes, methodologies, and tools for IFRS 9 impairment, internal credit rating, stress-testing, risk limits, monitoring and reporting
  • Maintain risk-related communication with key risk stakeholders (internal and fund-level management boards and committees, auditors, regulators)
  • Organize and supply internal risk committees with portfolio-level inputs. Further development of the risk governance framework
  • Coordinate regular update and further development of risk-related processes and procedures
  • Ensure close cooperation and coordination with credit risk management teams with regards to counterparty- and country-level risk assessment
  • Coordinate the implementation of new processes and tools for credit risk management and monitoring
  • Coordinate the communication with the other departments (IT, Investment Management, etc.) as to development and further improvement of risk-related processes, tools and methodologies
  • Lead the definition of key business requirements to improve and design risk management tools and coordinate respective IT projects
  • Lead the cooperation with external data, technology, and intelligence providers
  • Coordinate budgeting, cost management, efficiency monitoring and benchmarking for risk processes

What we expect:

  • Sufficient relevant professional experience covering portfolio-level credit risk, risk process management and development of risk infrastructure – ideally as a part of a risk controlling role at an AIFM, bank or other regulated credit institution.
  • Familiarity with classic credit risk (PD, LGD, EAD), and market risk (VaR, CVaR) modelling concepts
  • Proficiency in IFRS 9 and IFRS 7, overall familiarity with IFRS
  • Familiarity with applicable AIFM regulatory framework in Germany. Familiarity with Luxembourg SICAV SIF regulatory framework is an advantage.
  • Good understanding of credit processes of an investment fund or a bank
  • Superior written and verbal communication in English and German, including executive writing
  • Affinity to modern information technology. Familiarity with risk management software and automation solutions market, and/or familiarity with R is an advantage.
  • Experience in managing cross-departmental risk management-related projects
  • Staff management experience with open and inclusive leadership style
  • Pro-active, creative, self-motivating attitude
