Regional Risk Manager – LATAM (m/f/d)

Finance in Motion is looking for an established professional to take over the lead of Latin America’s credit risk management function: 

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate the credit risk management team for Latin American and the Caribbean markets
  • Lead and ensure the quality of the risk analysis (i.e., credit, market, and liquidity) of current and potential investment opportunities across the region, including also climate-related, E&S, AML and other compliance risks
  • Coordinate on-and off-site due diligence for potential investments on the risk side
  • Ensure the risk review of loan agreements and other legal documentation in line with the company’s risk tolerance
  • Ensure regular monitoring of the outstanding debt investments in financial institutions (banks and non-bank financial institutions), corporates and other investees at both individual and portfolio level
  • Develop risk portfolio management strategies, including loan restructuring and work-outs
  • Coordinate internal credit rating process and conduct continued rating surveillance of the investment portfolio 
  • Source business intelligence by analyzing key market and economic developments in countries of operation and by conducting industries analysis 
  • Ensure close cooperation and coordination with other departments within the organization
  • Prepare and deliver risk-related communications with key stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Provide coaching and guidance to direct reports to develop their knowledge and skillset

What we expect:

  • Sufficient relevant professional experience assessing risks of financial institutions and corporate clients
  • The successful candidate could have accumulated experience within either of: 
    • International development banks
    • Private banks
    • International and regional financing companies/funds
    • Rating agencies or consulting firms
  • Familiarity with Latin American business environment and banking regulatory framework
  • Pro-active, creative, self-motivating attitude
  • Fully bilingual (English and Spanish) and superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact at different corporate levels and with external parties and stakeholders with confidence and clarity
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, meet deadlines, and oversight projects
  • Staff management experience with an open and inclusive leadership style
  • Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Development Finance, or a related field
  • Willing to travel to the countries of operations (Central America, South America, and the Caribbean) as necessary
  • Willing to be based in El Salvador or Colombia
